Why We Love This Chicken Lettuce Wraps Recipe
It’s safe to say that I’m obsessed with this Asian lettuce wraps recipe. Here’s why I keep making them on a near weekly basis:
Healthy: Each wrap is under 300 calories. They’re made with fresh veggies, and you can also use whole grain rice in them for added goodness. Flavorful: The sauce consists of ingredients like soy sauce and chili garlic sauce, so you know it’s bold! So easy: The chicken mixture gets cooked in one pan, then tossed onto lettuce wraps with some rice (if desired). Quick and easy!
What’s the best lettuce to use for lettuce wraps?
You want to use lettuce leaves that have a large surface area. I like to use butter lettuce, but bibb is also a great option. Iceberg lettuce will add a crunch to each bite.
How to Store and Reheat
Once assembled, chicken lettuce wraps are best served immediately. However, you can store the cooked chicken mixture separately from the lettuce! In an airtight container in the fridge, the cooked ground chicken and veggies will stay fresh for 2-3 days. Reheat for 30 seconds at a time in the microwave, stirring each time it stops, until warmed all the way through.
Serving Suggestions
Top off your Asian lettuce wraps with garnishes like chopped cashews, sriracha and chopped green onions.

How To Make Easy Chicken Lettuce Wraps Step by Step
Make the sauce: Stir together 1 tsp sesame oil, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 3 tbsp soy sauce and 1 1/2 tbsp chili garlic sauce. Cook the veggies: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add in half a chopped onion and half a chopped red bell pepper. Cook until softened, then stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 tbsp minced ginger, and 1 (8 oz) can of chopped water chestnuts. Cook for 2-3 more minutes. Add the chicken: Add 1 pound of ground chicken to the pan. Break it up as it cooks. Make it saucy: Once the chicken is cooked, stir in the sauce. Simmer on low so the excess moisture reduces. Assemble the wraps: Spoon equal amounts of rice and chicken into lettuce leaves. Top with garnishes like green onions, cashews, and sriracha. Note: This recipe is one of those few exceptions on our site that has more than 10 ingredients. We try to keep things VERY easy around here, and limiting ingredients and time spent is one of our favorite ways. That being said, this recipe is too delicious to leave out of our recipe box! It’s an exception that is so flavorful and worth the extra ingredients if you have the time and resources to make it.
