This easy bacon wrapped asparagus is one of my favorite apps of all time!

What’s in This Bacon Wrapped Asparagus Recipe?

Asparagus: Thick-sized spears work much, much better than the thin ones. Bacon: Thin-sliced pepper bacon is my favorite choice for this recipe. Mustard: Dijon mustard has a rich flavor that pairs so well with the asparagus and bacon.

Tips for Success

Use thick asparagus and trim off the woody ends. Wrap the bacon tightly around the asparagus so that it’s secure and doesn’t become unraveled. Bake in a preheated oven for the best results.

How to Store and Reheat

Store leftover bacon wrapped asparagus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes, or until warmed through and crispy.

Serve it alongside your other favorite canapés like shrimp and grits appetizer cups or crockpot kielbasa sausage bites. Or serve it with bacon wrapped chicken breast for an extra bacon-y dinner!

How to Make Bacon Wrapped Asparagus Step by Step

Prep and Preheat: Preheat oven to 400°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Spray both sides of a wire, cooking rack with nonstick spray and place the rack over the baking sheet. Trim the Asparagus: Trim the tough ends off 12 medium-thick asparagus spears, cutting so the spears are the same length. If the asparagus has tough outer skin, peel the spears starting halfway down and to the end. (Most asparagus doesn’t need to be peeled.) Wrap the Asparagus: Tightly wrap each asparagus spear with ½ slice of pepper bacon (using 6 slices total) and place the spears on the prepared wire rack set over the baking sheet. Bake the Asparagus: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Rotate the pan, flip the bacon-wrapped spears over, and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes or until the bacon has crisped. If needed, set the oven to broil and broil for 1 minute. Watch closely. Transfer to a cooling rack and cool to touch. Serve with 3 tablespoons of Dijon mustard as dipping sauce.
